Lake Meredith is about 45 miles northeast of Amarillo and 9 miles west of Borger via SR 136. Impounded by Sanford Dam on the Canadian River, the 10,000-acre lake offers recreational facilities at Blue West, Cedar Canyon, Fritch Fortress, Harbor Bay, Plum Creek and Sanford-Yake. Additional facilities are available at McBride and Bugbee Canyon. Fishing for walleye, crappie, bass, catfish and trout is a popular pastime. Hunters can pursue deer, dove, turkey, quail, pheasant and geese. Park headquarters open Mon.-Fri. 8-4:30. Park open daily 24 hours.
